Police solve Malaya Maruta murder case, nab 4

The police have succeeded in solving murder mystery of an unidentified woman whose body was found near Malaya Marutha forest guest house in Banakal police station limits in Mudigere taluk recently.

The arrested are Rangeshi (27) from Bhadravathi taluk in Shimoga, H R Halesh (26) from Chikkal Siddeshawara city in Shimoga, Girish (22) and Sathish (17). The body of a woman aged between 20 and 25 was traced on June 21, below a bridge on NH 234 near the forest guest house.

A case was registered in Banakal police station and the police started the investigation. It was confirmed that the body was of Mamatha alias Madhu from Mungoti village in Bhadravathi. She is the wife of main accused Rangeshi. Suspecting of her having an extra marital affair, Rangesh had given supari of Rs 30,000 to his friends, Chikmagalur Superintendent of Police N Shashikumar told mediapersons on Friday.

Rangeshi and Mamatha had fallen in love and entered into wedlock six years ago. There was misunderstanding between the couple during last few days.

He had given supari to his friends by paying an advance of Rs 8,000.

Before she was killed, Rangeshi convinced Mamatha of shifting to Mangalore to get rid of loan lenders. He had arranged a separate vehicle for her. 

She was sent in a car along with his friends and other accused Halesh, Girish and Sathish.
The trio took her to a daily wage labourer’s house in Shimoga. After two days of stay, they took her again. They assaulted her with beer bottles and strangled her  to death. Later, they threw the body from the bridge, the SP said.

The police team which probed the case included  DySP Mithra Heraje, DySP S L Nayak, Mudigere CPI R Ramesh and others.
