JOIN US The Shankara Rotary Children’s Library will conduct a marathon for children between 3 years and 14 years on June 30.
The event will be flagged off by international athlete Ashwini Nachappa and cricketer Sunil Joshi from the Lalbagh West Gate at 8.30 a.m. The race will pass through Vanivilas Road and culminate at Shankara Math grounds, (Shankarapuram) covering a distance of 1.5 kms.
Drawing and painting competitions have also been organised as part of the event at Shankara Math grounds. In addition, the children will get an opportunity to view a Science exhibition, informative exhibits about nutritious foods, traditional games, and traditional musical instruments on display.
A workshop from PFA (People for Animals) has also been organised for the children to be familiar with the animals around them. The library hopes to get children acquainted with traditional games like chess, scrabble, mancala (count-and-capture game) and also learn how to conserve nature besides.
Over 3,000 children from various schools are expected to take participate.
