Two policemen were suspended on Friday over the gang rape in a moving car of two Delhi-based women early on Thursday, police said.

They have made two more arrests in the case and recovered the car used in the crime.

Balraj Singh, an assistant sub-inspector and in-charge of MG Road police post and head constable Dinesh Kumar were suspended for negligence of duty.

Police said that when the victims informed the police control room about the incident, Kumar failed to convey the message to Singh as he did not know his cellphone number.
Two more persons have been arrested and a car impounded in the case.

With the latest arrests, six men have now been held in the case.

Five of the accused — Devender, Pramod, Haneesh, Satish alias Mota and Devender Kumar — were arrested at Nathupura village in Gurgaon. The sixth accused, identified as Dharambir, was held at Narnaul in Haryana’s Mahendragarh district.

“The accused, all cab drivers, were produced before a local court on Friday which sent
them to judicial custody,” a police officer said.

They are still looking for one more accused, the officer added.

The Toyota Corolla car used in the commission of the crime has been seized from Dharambir’s possession.

According to police, he was driving the car when the victims were kidnapped while returning home from a pub in Gurgaon.

“Dharambir had locked the doors of the cab from inside to prevent the victims from escaping soon after the accused got into the car,” the police officer added.

It is alleged that after one of the victims managed to escape, the accused made a phone call to their friends, who in turn, reached the spot in a Tata Indica car.

On Thursday, the two Delhi-based women aged 25 and 27 had hired an autorickshaw from Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road when Dharambir offered to drop them home in south Delhi’s Tughlakabad for Rs 300. They got into the car outside Sahara Mall.

They two were gang-raped in the car while going home from a pub in Gurgaon on Thursday on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road while four friends of the accused followed in another vehicle, police said.

The men took turns to rape the women in the car for more than two hours.

When the victims tried to spurn their advances, the accused beat them up and bit them all over their bodies.

The women were dumped on Gurgaon-Faridabad Road, from where they contacted police.
