Two held for duping KBC aspirant in Patna

Two persons, linked to Pakistan, who fleeced people in the name of popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), were arrested in Bihar while their other two accomplices managed to give the police the slip.

The racket came to light soon after the KBC, hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, announced its upcoming new show: KBC season-7.

The miscreants on June 3 called up a resident of Malsalami in Patna Sahib, Rudal Das, and informed him on his mobile that he had won a prize money of Rs 15 lakh in the “KBC lottery” and the amount would be presented to him by Big B during the upcoming new show.

The caller, however, added a caveat and told Das that he should first deposit Rs 1.6 lakh before claiming the prize money.  Lured by the lucre, Das did not bother to verify the veracity of the claim and deposited the sum in the bank account as asked by the caller. Once the money was credited to the account, the calls stopped coming thereby giving Das anxious moments.

A hapless businessman, he approached the Senior SP of Patna Manu Maharaj on June 20 at the latter’s janata durbar.
