Two persons were killed while resisting robbery attempts in two separate incidents in south-east and north-east Delhi in the past 24 hours.

The first incident was reported from Okhla in south-east Delhi, where an 18-year-old youth was stabbed to death by a group of unknown assailants on Sunday night.

While police claimed that the victim, identified as Sarvesh Kumar, was killed over personal enmity, his family members and neighbours said he was killed for resisting a robbery attempt.

“A case of murder has been filed with Amar Colony police station, and efforts are on to nab the culprits,” said a senior police officer.

Kumar used to sell snacks near Okhla vegetable market, and lived with family in Harkesh Nagar.

On Sunday night, he went to Okhla railway station, where some assailants cornered him and attempted to rob him.

Witnesses told police that Kumar resisted the robbery bid, and in the process got stabbed by the assailants.

Even after suffering severe stab wounds, he ran towards the nearby Kiran slum cluster and screamed for help.

The assailants followed him, and left only when they saw some locals rushing in. “Sarvesh was taken to a nearby hospital immediately, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. His mobile phone and some cash were missing from his pocket,” said the officer.
Courier agent murdered

A 26-year-old courier agent was stabbed to death by some robbers, who snatched his mobile phone and some cash in north-east Delhi’s Seemapuri on Sunday night.

The victim, identified as Ramesh Saini, had gone to Dwarka on Sunday evening for some office work.

He was returning home when the robbers waylaid him and attempted to rob him. His throat was slit when he resisted the attempt.

“We suspect that he was killed in a robbery bid,” said the police officer. Saini lived in Loni in Ghaziabad with his family, and used to work in a courier company. He had gone to Dwarka to meet a client.

“He took the Metro to Dilshad Garden. As he was heading towards a bus stand to catch a vehicle for Loni, he was attacked and killed by the unidentified assailants,” said the officer. His body was handed over to family members after a post-mortem at Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital.
