Standing in the middle of the auditorium with sweat dripping from his entire body, Phillip Chbeeb was busy giving autographs to ardent fans when Metrolife caught up with the young artist.

Since, it was the last day of the four-day long dance workshop on hip-hop, everyone desperately wanted to get Phillip’s autograph and a picture clicked along with him. They deserved it for they had dedicated four days to learn the best dance moves from one who has left television audiences worldwide, awestruck with his marvellous act in So You Think You Can Dance – one of the most popular American dance reality shows.

Phillip, being a part of the America’s Best Dance Crew has inspired multitudes with his unique style of dance. Through his phenomenal workshops, Phillip has been spreading the magic of his dance form, all across the world. India was also a part of it. “I started dancing when I was around 15. Instantly I fell in love with hip-hop dance and popping, mostly because it seemed like almost unreal what some of the people could do. It seemed almost unnatural, and I really kind of enjoyed the creativity of the art form, so, I jumped into that, and I have just been trying to progress and get better ever since then.”
Ask him where does he get his inspiration for dancing and he says, “Be it nature or technology – everything inspires me. I try to give a physical language to it through my dance.”

Talking about young kids who came from different parts of the City to attend his workshop, Phillip says, “Dance is in their body because it is a part of their culture. They think that my style of dancing is difficult but I am surprised at how easily they adapt their bodies to hip-hop. I am impressed,” says Phillip.

As international dancers are looking towards Bollywood, Phillip too wants to be part of the industry. “A lot of people have brought that idea to me. I will be more than happy if I get an opportunity to be part of the Indian film industry. Right now though, I am here for this workshop and it has really turned out to be amazing.”

The hip-hop dancer also managed to visit Agra in his short trip to India and has fallen in love with typical Indian cuisine like Dal Makhani and Kadhai Paneer. “I know people who have visited India and who feel that the food here is very spicy and they couldn’t enjoy it much. But I loved what was served to me. Flavours in the curry were extremely good and it was for the first time I was having it. It was delicious!”
