Lover pushes pregnant woman into well

A man allegedly pushed a blind woman, with whom he had an affair, into an unused well after learning that she was pregnant.

 The incident that took place at Puttaparti village in the taluk on Sunday came to light on Monday when a group of shepherds rescued the 20-year-old woman from the dried up well on hearing her screams.

According to the police, Adeppa, 43, of Puttaparti was having a relationship with the woman, also from the same village, for the past seven months. On learning that she was pregnant, he is said to have hatched a plan to get rid of her.

On Sunday, Adeppa told the woman that he will marry her and took her to a secluded area. He is said to have made her drink some liquid, after which she fell unconscious. Later, he allegedly pushed her into a well, the police said quoting the victim who has suffered severe head injuries.

“On Monday morning, I heard some shepherds talking near the well and, shouted for  help.They rescued me and took me to the government hospital,” said the woman who is still under treatment.

The police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Adeppa.

Police said, it had come tolight during preliminary investigation that Adeppa has already been married and had cheated the girl promising to marry her.
