Rain springs a surprise, temp down to 23 degrees

After playing hide and seek for the past couple of days, the much awaited rain finally made its presence felt in the capital on Tuesday.

The city not only woke up to an overcast sky and drizzle, but it also received heavy rain in evening.

The Met department forecast shower spells in the coming days.

The minimum temperature settled two notches below the season’s average at 25.2 degree Celsius.

People enjoyed a pleasant morning with light showers at different parts of the city. “Nothing can be more wonderful than waking up to a cloudy sky with light shower,” said south Delhi resident Anubha Bagati.

The meteorological department has forecast rain in the coming days.

“Delhi will experience rain, but it won’t be heavy showers. It will only be two to three cm rainfall,” said a Met official.

Dilshad Garden Geetha Krishnan said, “It wasn’t that cloudy in morning. But towards the evening it started raining like cats and dogs. Today, I got a reason not to use AC or coolers.” 

The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.6 degree Celsius and humidity at 8.30 am was 79 per cent.

“The maximum and minimum temperature on Wednesday will hover around 35 and 25 deg C respectively,” added the official.

The city received 1.8 mm rainfall from 8.30 pm on Monday to 8.30 am on Tuesday.
The maximum temperature on Monday was 35.8 deg C, a notch below the season’s average, while the minimum temperature settled at 27.2 deg C — average for this time of the year.
