'I have always had a glamourous image'

Ever since her debut in the Darshan starrer Pokiri, Pranita Subhash has been on a roll. She has been working with some very good names in the film industry. But it was no cakewalk for the actress as she was very particular about which movie to sign.

Be it in Telugu or Kannada, Pranita has managed to leave her mark and let people know that she’s here to stay.

Her film ‘Whistle’ is releasing this weekend and Pranita tells Metrolife that this will be a movie to watch out for. Playing the role of a writer, Pranita describes her character as a very bubbly and raw one. “The role is of a very bubbly and independent girl, who is not scared of anything and can handle any situation thrown at her. It was quite a challenge for me.

As a person, I am very shy and reserved and I really had to open up to play this character,” she adds. Cast opposite Chiranjeevi Sarja for the first time, Pranita says that she enjoyed working with the actor. “Chiranjeevi is a very hardworking actor. This was the first time I worked with him and after seeing the trailers and songs, people have liked our on-screen pairing,” she adds.

But that’s not all — there’s another big film in Pranita’s kitty this year. The actress has bagged a role opposite Upendra in R Chandru’s Bramha and is all smiles.

“It’s a huge thing for me. I am looking forward to the film as my character has many shades,” she says. Probe a little more about her role in Bramha and she adds, “It’s too early to talk about the film.” She was last seen in films like Baava and Shakuni in Telugu.

The actress will soon make her comeback in the Telugu film industry. Pranita, who will be sharing screen space with Pawan Kalyan in Atharintiki Dharedhi, says that she has become a huge fan of Pawan Kalyan. “It’s been great fun working with Pawan Kalyan. He is quite humble, despite his star status and there’s a lot to learn from him,” she says. Apart from this, she will also be seen in an untitled film starring Mohan Babu, Vishnu Manchu and Manoj Manchu. “It’s an amazing phase in my life as I am getting to do what I love the most and work with some talented people,” she says.

Pranita is now making a conscious effort to break her glam-doll image and sign on more performance-oriented roles. “I have always had a glamourous image. But I also want to explore different kinds of roles. In Bheema Theeradalli, I had a very strong character and people saw how well I carried it. I even got nominated for the Best Actress award. Post the film, I have been getting good opportunities but I am being choosy about what I sign. I believe one has to perform in every role so you can’t really differentiate between what is ‘performance-oriented’ and what is not. So, I do want to give my best to every film that I am a part of,” she sums up.
