Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners & Agents Association have threatened to stop transportation of gravel (jalli), steel and other construction materials, if the government does not fulfil their demands of framing a sand policy and provide necessary sand transport permits in a week’s time.
Briefing reporters here, on Thursday, Association President G R Shanmugappa, said the strike, which entered the fourth day, has increased the price of one load of sand from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 and has brought construction activities to a standstill.
