JOIN USClose on the heels of catching of a cobra in the Bangalore residence of Revenue Minister G Karunakara Reddy, the flag post of the Kote Malleswara Swamy temple broke into two pieces at a function on Thursday.
The 15-foot tall monolith flag post, which was to be installed in the presence of Karunakara Reddy, split when it was being shifted by a crane on Thursday morning.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. A large number of people were present at the venue in connection with a marriage. The Minister has promised to install a new flag post for the temple.
The flag post installation was postponed from 10 pm on Wednesday to 5 am on Thursday as priests felt that morning was auspicious. The minister arrived in the morning on learning that the flag post was ready for installation and the mishap happened in his presence.
This mishap in his own backyard of Bellary is being interpreted as one more bad omen for Karunakara Reddy.
According to sources, Reddy brothers, who have grown rich through mining business, are highly superstitious like a large number of politicians in the State. Karunakara Reddy, along with his younger brother G Janaradhana Reddy, has raised a banner of revolt against CM B S Yeddyurappa.
