Garments, bags, jewelleries and footwear- everything was in huge number. Nothing was similar but everything was unique, trendy and stylish in its own way.

Apparently, the collection was something that we tend to see in high end fashion stores. Surprisingly most of it we generally don’t see in our country.

That’s why the recently concluded three-day long 51st India International Garment Fair at Pragati Maidan catered to international buyers. To fulfil the demand of the foreign customers garment exporters from all across the country participated in the fair.

One amongst them was City based Jaskaran Chadha, who came up with a nice collection of digital printed bags, cushion covers, tops and stoles. “Digital is the future and there is lot of demand in US and Europe,” says Jaskaran, who is in the business for last 30 years.
Similarly, Monica Oberoi who is in the garment industry for five years had complete hippie collection of clothing. “We have skirts, kurtis, tops and bags for people who wander freely. Designs are inspired from Lord Shiva, Om and Yoga,” says Yoga.

Sudhir Kukar , who came from Jaipur with high end fashion wear says, “Tribal print is in these days. Therefore, we have a whole range of collection from long dresses to jumpsuits, sarongs, tops and stoles in multi-coloured tribal prints,” says Sudhir. Interestingly, Sudhir has a team of designers who have been working for months to make samples to be displayed at the fair.

Also, there were some manufacturers who supply garments to prominent brands like Zara, Espirit and Calvin Klien. “Every buyer has a different kind of taste. So the fair is one such occasion where we sit them, they look at our samples and ask us to make the changes accordingly,” says Sarabjeet Bedi, Basant India Inc. The wholesome price of one stole designed by the company is Rs 120 which when purchased by big brands is delivered to the consumer at much higher price.  Sadly, those were sample pieces and nobody could buy them.

Similar was the case in jewellery section. Kamal Gupta, chairman Shringaar Exports, who supplies the all kind of jewelleries to Lifestyle says, “Indians are getting inspired from Europeans and it is because of this reason there has been a change in the taste of people. Our designers come up with such designs which can cater to people all across the globe,” says Kamal.

Besides this, a fashion show was also organised by different garment manufacturers to attract foreign buyers present there.
