TV actor Ravi Dubey has given himself a break from acting in women-dominated serials. Instead, the actor is testing his calibre as an anchor on India’s Dancing Superstar.

“I also anchored the finale of Master Chef India - 3,” remarks Ravi, who has completely fallen in love with hosting a show, so much so that he does not feel nervous anymore.

“Honestly I was nervous and, had butterflies in my stomach on the first day of anchoring. I actually had to camouflage it with confidence. But the IDS team helped me immensely. Since I am not an introvert it was not difficult to break the ice when I entered on stage and was infront of a live audience for the first time,” shares Ravi.

Calling it as a project that has “phenomenally groomed” his personality professionally and personally, Ravi does not fail to point out the difference between serials and live shows. “For me, acting is rehearsed creativity where you get time to understand the character and get under its skin whereas anchoring is spontaneous creativity. Nothing is rehearsed except the fact that you have stick to the strict format of the show,” says Ravi.

He adds, “Anchoring is challenging because inherently you have to be spontaneous but while acting in serial that is not the case.”

This is not the only challenge in Ravi’s life. He also faced the tough time when he decided to take a plunge into entertainment industry leaving behind his engineering in electronics and telecom training eight years ago.

“Taking up acting was a desired move. I couldn’t clear one semester because of my inclination towards entertainment. It took me months to explain to myself that I wanted to be an actor because I knew I was leaving behind something that could bring stability in my life,” recalls Ravi.

Sticking to one final decision to try his luck, Ravi quickly got his portfolio done. His instincts turned out to be correct as he got advertisements and TV shows in hand almost immediately. “I have done 80 advertisements so far and have done serials like Doli Saja Ke, 12/24 Karol Bagh and Saas Bina Sasural,” says Ravi, who enjoyed hosting Nach Baliye 5 the most.

“In my eight-year long career Nach Baliye was the most beautiful phase,” shares Ravi.  And why wouldn’t it be as Ravi got a chance to spend more time with his girlfriend Sargun Mehta.

“It was the time when Sargun and I spent so much time together otherwise it is not possible because of our hectic schedules. When the show was over there was a lull in life and Sargun and I really missed that,” says Ravi.
