The police have arrested a 63-year-old retired government employee, along with his wife, for raping his daughters for 10 years in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan.

According to the police, the accused, a retired clerk of the agriculture marketing board, had been physically and sexually assaulting his five daughters for the last 10 years.

The incident came to light when his fourth daughter, along with her two sisters—all of them now married—dared to report the matter to the police after he tried to assault his three-year-old granddaughter.

Acting on the complaint filed by the girls that their father had been physically and sexually abusing them, the police nabbed the husband-wife duo on Tuesday.

The police said that during the preliminary investigation, the man accepted getting physical with two of his daughters. He revealed that he first laid hands on his eldest daughter when she was in Class VI. Since then, he had been raping his daughters.

Their mother, too, never objected the inhuman act. “When the daughters narrated their father’s inhuman act to their mother, she refused to listen to them, saying that it was a tradition,” said a police officer in charge of Bayana police station.

The girls told the police that on protesting, their father would thrash them with iron rods. He would rape them after showing adult movies. Two of them became pregnant by their father before marriage and had to undergo abortion. He took his daughters to Agra twice for abortion.

“The father-mother duo also projected them as characterless to conceal his misdeeds,” said Bharatpur Superintendent of Police Anshuman Bhomia.
He praised the victims’ husbands for supporting them in approaching the police.
