JOIN USUthappa's triple ton puts KSCA XI in control
Robin Uthappa struck his maiden triple hundred in first-class cricket to power KSCA XI to a position of strength against Jharkhand on the second day of the Safi Darashah Trophy tournament at Alur grounds here on Thursday.
Uthappa’s unbeaten 307 (358b, 29x4, 5x6) helped KSCA XI, overnight 393 for two in 94 overs, reach 550 for five in the stipulated 120 overs. KSCA added 156 runs in the remaining 26 overs to put the visitors under immense pressure.
Uthappa had good support at the other end as Manish Pandey extended his overnight 51 to a brisk 78 off 109 balls with eight hits to the fence and one six. Jharkhand were 124 for three in 41.5 overs when play was called off due to rain.
But the star of the day was unmistakably Uthappa. The 27-year Kodava lad was determined to add to his overnight 223, and he motored away in fine style to reach a major landmark that has also given his team a chance to push for full points.
