JOIN USA day after the midday meal tragedy in Bihar, over 100 girl students from Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC)-owned school fell sick on Thursday after consuming the midday meal in Neyveli district.
Sources said 105 girl students studying in class 7 and 8 vomited, while some fainted, after eating eggs.
A teacher said that distribution of food was immediately suspended. “We suspect that contaminated egg could be the reason,” the teacher added.
Affected students were immediately taken to the NLC hospital for treatment.
“Out of the total number of students who were admitted to hospital, 13 are being treated for stomach ache and the rest will be discharged in the evening after observation,” Cuddalore District Collector Kirlosh Kumar told Deccan Herald. He said a detailed inquiry would be conducted and action would be taken against those found guilty.
