The ‘Fall Winter 2013’ collection of Label by Ritu Kumar was showcased recently, in an event that celebrated both fashion as well as hair-styling.

Many were interested in the new collection, which is perfect to counter the dull weather in the City now. It included maxi dresses and skirts adorned with ikat print and quirky patterns.

The three lines that were showcased during the event were diverse in pattern and style, yet conglomerated to make the perfect statement.

The ikat line basically runs in two colour schemes — blue and white, and red and white, with other colours like black around them.

The traditional pattern was showcased on western silhouettes and long, dressy outfits.
The jersey fabric, which was used with pretty embroidery in the western style, was a delightful option.

The other items included trousers and shorts tops (mostly with cowl neck).

The next collection ,‘Solid’, consisted of georgette shirts in solid colours. There was a myriad of choices like electric blue and white. Some of the pieces had detailing on them, while others had print.

The third line, ‘Graffiti’, also showcased georgette garments with vibrant prints and geometric patterns.

Commenting about the new collection, Sabina from Label says, “All these outfits which can be worn through the day. You can wear them to work as they are dressy and understated and for a night out too. The colours are so vibrant and the prints are different — they help to pep the mood and are nice for this season.”

The event also witnessed the launch of a book called ‘Let’s Talk Hair’ by Dr Aparna Santhanam.

Talking about the connection between hair and fashion, Aparna says, “Fashion is a broad term. When one talks about fashion, it includes beauty and outfits. To me, fashion refers to much more than just clothes. Hair is like a garment and just as one takes care of exclusive garments, one has to take care of their tresses.”

Sabina says, “Feeling good about oneself is a must, and hair is an important factor in that.” She adds, “We’ve all had a bad hair day, right?”
