Move over plain leggings and jeggings, printed leggings are the new concept in fashion apparel. Celebrities and commoners alike are donning bright colours and crazy prints on their leggings to make the ultimate style statement.

Leggings are the most cheaply available, comfortable and fashion adaptive bottom that a woman can wear. You can buy a pair at a fraction of the price a denim jeans is available at. They are easy to wear through the day even in hot, muggy weather and the ample prints they are available in these days, they are sure to make you feel like a style queen.

Fashion designer Pallavi Kumar says, “Till some time back, leggings existed only in bold colours. So you could team up a multi-colour, printed top, shirt or kurti with a legging in say black, white, grey, brown or any single solid colour. However, of late, printed leggings have made a huge impact on women’s fashion. So, in a role reversal of sorts, you can have a plain white long shirt or a long black top in combination with variedly printed colourful leggings.” Printed leggings are a fashionista’s darling for their variegated fabrics – cotton, polyester, rayon, wool, even metallic, faux leather and mesh. So you can use them in different seasons and on different occasions. Not to mention the way they accentuate a woman’s body by highlighting the curves and adding chutzpah to her personality.

Pallavi says, “There will be no end if one starts counting the kind of prints they are available in. But if you are a bit apprehensive to start with, you can try ones with subtle details like tiny polka dots, pinstripes or tie‘n’dyed designs. Then you can move on to geometric patterns which look good with white tops and floral patterns which are wonderful with colour shirts.”

“Once you get into an experimental mode, you can go for animal, newspaper, cartoon and galaxy prints. Then they are also available in colour splash, graffiti and asymmetric patterns. The crazier the print, better the room for adding accessories. So, you can pair them with high heels, colourful bangles, bags, head gears like hats and bandanas.” There is so much to do with printed leggings, the possibilities are endless. So, go out there and create your fashion statement.
