KSCA XI wasted little time in performing the last rites to win by 10 wickets against Goa on the last day of their Safi Darashah match at the M Chinnaswamy stadium here on Friday.

Goa, overnight on 147/6, were bundled out for 223 with left-arm spinner KP Appanna taking two more wickets for his second five-wicket haul of the game.

The hosts needed just a run to win and Robin Uthappa completed the formalities with a thumping drive through the point region for a boundary.

The victory gives KSCA XI six points (five plus one bonus point) with Goa getting none.

The visitors needed a huge hand from southpaw Ravikant Shukla, overnight on 75, to even entertain thoughts about saving the game but he was the first to go when he was castled by Sharath HS for 84.

Amit Yadav was the next to go when he was snaffled by Manish Pandey in the slip cordon off pacer Akshay SL.

Then, Appanna caught Harshad Gadekar in front of the stumps before removing last man Buddadev Mangaldas, whose ugly heave only managed to find Gautham K at long-off.

The last two wickets yielded a combined 46 runs as the Goan tailenders chanced their arm in the hope of making KSCA XI bat again.  Speaking after the match, KSCA XI skipper CM Gautam said that their strategy was to restrict Goa to under three runs in an over as the wicket was very flat.

“We struck to a disciplined length as the wicket was very flat. Our intention was to keep Goa down to under three runs in an over and it worked out well in the end,” he said.

KP Appanna, whose 10-wicket haul in the match enabled hosts coast towards their first outright win of the tournament, said that there were some minor changes in his game in the off-season.

“I wanted to turn the ball more and my loading wasn’t correct.

“There were some minor changes to my bowling and I also wanted to bowl a bit slower,” he said.

KSCA XI’s next game is against Rajasthan Cricket Association at Alur (1) which begins on Monday.

Goa’s next assignment is against Jharkhand at BGS (T).
