Modi writes letter on Telangana

Last Updated 30 July 2013, 20:36 IST

After the Union government endorsed the creation of a separate Telangana state on Tuesday, BJP’s Chairman of the Campaign Committee and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, wrote a letter to his “dear brothers and sisters from all the regions of Andhra Pradesh.”

Reiterating the stance of BJP favouring small states, Modi in his letter lashed out at Congress.

“While we welcome any forward movement on the issue of Telangana, we yet again ask how real is the intent of the Congress and the UPA this time around,” he wrote.  “Unlike capital cities that became shared capitals by virtue of being on the border between two states, Hyderabad becomes a shared capital despite being located well within Telangana.

Thus, this does not justify the logic of sharing a capital albeit for a short duration. This leaves scope for operational difficulties, he added.
