Last Updated 08 November 2009, 19:28 IST

Addressing a press conference here, Mulayam, accompanied by SP General Secretary Amar Singh, alleged that Mayawati’s officials had been forcing an SP legislator to part with his bungalow or else face consequences.

Terming Mayawati as a “land mafia,” who was blatantly taking government bungalows into her possession for personal use, the SP leaders also played a taped conversation allegedly between two of Mayawati’s close officials and the SP legislator in which the two officials purportedly flaunted their connections with the judiciary.

Legislator Sunil Singh, who was also present, alleged that Mayawati had “set her eyes” on his bungalow as it was located adjacent to hers and alleged that he was being “threatened” and “pressurised” to move out of it.

In the conversation, the officials purportedly say that the   bench of the Supreme Court would change soon and the tide would turn in their favour. “It is a very serious matter and we have urged the governor to recommend a CBI probe into it,” Singh said.

The SP leaders also presented one Radhika Garg, who claimed that Dinesh Tripathi, who had lodged an FIR against Amar Singh on money laundering charges, was trying to grab her house in Allahabad, valued at Rs 50 crore.

The two SP leaders, earlier in the day, met Uttar Pradesh  Governor B L Joshi and urged him to recommend a Central Bureau of Investigation probe.
