Dr B K Nagarajappa, Registrar, Ayurveda & Unani Board, has filed a complaint with the police that one of his predecessors ‘attempted to murder him’ with machetes and knives after he sought information about the latter’s professional conduct under RTI Act.

The FIR states that the victim sustained severe injuries on the head, abdomen, feet and other parts of the body. He is now recuperating at Gayathri Hospital in Vijayanagar. However, the police did not reveal the name of the accused.

“I was in my car when he arrived there along with two others and attacked me. He damaged my car and would’ve killed me had my younger brother and the public not come to my rescue. He was threatening to slay me,” the victim told Deccan Herald.

According to sources, the accused was nursing anger against Dr Nagarajappa after the latter was posted to his place last June. He, however, did not quit the post and stayed put at the job.
As a result, Dr Nagarajappa was posted to Tumkur. Things came to a head when the victim
procured a copy of the accused’s “professional misconducts” under the RTI Act on October 24.

Enraged by this, the accused assaulted Dr Nagarajappa and is now absconding.
