BJP sources said the exact date for the crucial meeting will be finalised by CM Yeddyurappa and Reddy brothers in consultation with the central leadership soon after the BJP Legislature Party meeting, which is also likely to be convened soon. The core-committee meeting assumes significance as it will be a test of the efforts made by the BJP high command to buy peace between the two warring groups.

“The committee will be headed by Sushma Swaraj and will comprise the chief minister, one of the Reddy brothers, BJP State President Sadananda Gowda and BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Santhosh. All major policy decisions that affect the affairs of the State including transfers of top officials will have to be brought before the core-committee, which will meet once every month,” the sources said.

The party is hoping that Speaker Jagadish Shettar takes a final decision on entering the Cabinet soon, so that the core-committee can decide on who should be made Speaker.

The state cabinet will meet for the first time after the fortnight long political crisis in the state on November 11.  Meanwhile, speaking to reporters at Bellary on Monday, Revenue minister G Karunakar Reddy maintained that he was not aware of the responsibilities involved in being a member of the core-committee.
