Construction worker killed in accident

A construction worker was killed on the spot after the bike he was riding pillion rammed a car on Tumkur Road flyover on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Mallappa (34), a native of Saidapur in Yadgir district.

The accident occurred when Mallappa and Bhaskar were returning home. Bhaskar, who was riding the two-wheeler lost control when a car took a sudden turn on the flyover. He hit the car and then crashed into the parapet wall of the flyover. Mallappa was killed on the spot after he was tossed up in the air and fell to the ground. Bhaskar was rushed to a nearby private hospital and he is stated to be out of danger, said police.

Mallappa was married and his wife gave birth to a baby just three months ago. 

Gang war thwarted

The CCB sleuths claimed to have averted a possible gang war by arresting four rowdies and seizing lethal weapons from them on Sunday. The arrested are: Raghavendra, 28, a resident of Hanumanthnagar, Naveen, 26, Banashankari, Gangadhar, 22, Srinagar and Manjunath, 22, Mysore Bank Road. The gang was apprehended when they were plotting a murder, police said.
