Insider might have stolen the valuable books for gain, say police

K Dwarkanath Babu, Additional Draftsman and Ex-officio Additional Secretary to the Department of Parliamentary Affairs and Legislation, lodged a complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police on Monday that five out of nine valuable works on Law Affairs went missing when he was on leave between October 2 and 16.

He told the police that only watch and ward workers, sweepers, and toilet cleaners frequent his office everyday, thus indicating where the blame lies.

According to police sources, this could be the handiwork of the office workers only. Outsiders rarely visit Dwarkanath Babu’'s office. The police are playing it safe since their investigation is in an early stage. “Those are valuable law books. Any insider might have stolen them for gain,” said the source. But, the police are hard-pressed to investigate the case thoroughly due its high-profile nature. The complainant has demanded that Closed Circuit Camera Television (CCTV) should be installed in his chamber so as to avoid such incidents in the future.
