Known for his penchant for treading the thin line between realistic and commercial, director Suseenthiran comes up with another interesting and admirable fare in Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer.

Knitting teenage infatuations and immature ideas about love which veer more towards physical intimacy resulting in serious social repercussions, Suseenthiran seeks to cajole youth into reflecting on the tragic consequences of their brash acts.

He turns an otherwise routine campus romance into a neat tearjerker laced with social message by showing how, today’s youngsters indulge in premature sex and court problems such as abortions, disowning not only unwanted babies but also their families.

Through his lead pair Karthi and Shwetha — who turn lovebirds after initial teen tiffs followed by moments of physical intimacy, leading to Shwetha becoming pregnant — Suseenthiran succinctly drives home his message.

The lead pair leaves much to be desired, but what works for Aadhal is its short running time, coupled with finesse in other departments including Suseenthiran’s script and surefire direction.
