Demonstrations will be held across the state demanding immediate action by the government to end the “rule of the mining mafia” that has been allegedly “looting” the state’s wealth.

Besides, leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), two Left parties and the Lok Satta will present memoranda to the president, prime minister, governor and the chief minister on the need to check the increasing influence of the mining mafia on the political system. Responding to criticism by Gali Janardhan Reddy at a press conference here on Friday, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said he was not cowed down by the threats held out by Reddy. He added that the party’s fight was against a company that resorted to illegal mining and export of mineral wealth worth crores of rupees, he said.
