Villagers 'happy' as truck carrying fowls falls off gorge

The incident occurred at around 5 am. Out of the 2,500 chicken in the lorry, only a few have survived. Several coffee plants too have been damaged. The total loss has been estimated in lakhs. The lorry has been totally damaged. Three persons in the lorry including the driver have, however, escaped miraculously. A large number of locals took away the dead chicken. Some even struggled to take away survived chicken too!

The road is very narrow where the mishap occurred. Several accidents have occurred here prior to the present one. Madikeri city traffic police have registered a case.
