Minister for Women and Child Development P M Narendraswamy revealed that as many as 2.5 lakh children have been rescued all over the country with the help of Child Tracking Systems put in place at different centres by the National Informatics Centre.

Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, stressed upon the need to prevent all forms of exploitation of children.

The Education Department shoulders the responsibility of shaping the future of 1.1 crore children and they must be encouraged to attain their potential in all spheres, he said.

Developed in collaboration with National Informatics Centre, this specialised software aims at keeping track of children enrolled under the Bhagyalakshmi scheme from their birth till they attain the age of 18.

It is aimed at ensuring that a girl child completes a minimum education of eighth standard and is not married before she attains 18 years. The data of the beneficiaries is being fed into the system across 185 Child Development Centres in 29 districts of the State. So far, records of 2.5 lakh children have been uploaded.
