Inspector suspended

M Shivashankar Murthy was the investigating officer in a case that was registered on April 5, 2009, when he was serving in Banashankari police station. He had arrested two accused, while six others surrendered before the court on April 8. The court handed them over to the police for further inquiry.

He filed the charge sheet on July 10, two days after the due date. The decision to suspend Murthy was taken as his dereliction duty helped the accused get bail, the commissioner said.
