CPI national secretary D Raja and CPM leader Brinda Karat are scheduled to address a rally of left parties at Freedom Park in Bangalore on October 8, as part of their preparations to strengthen their base ahead of the 2014 parliamentary elections.

CPI Bangalore district secretary Hari Govind said the left parties will be holding half a dozen public meetings in various parts of Bangalore in coming days to educate people about the failures of the UPA government at the centre. The left parties will project themselves as the third alternative to the UPA and the NDA, he added.
