HDK demands George's dismissal

Last Updated 27 September 2013, 17:58 IST

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has sought the dismissal of Home Minister K J George from the Cabinet for allegedly encouraging single digit lottery.

Briefing reporters, Kumarswamy said recently in Kanakapura an FIR was filed by the local police against an accused for continuing with the single digit lottery.

“The police officer got several calls from the Home Minister’s office not to register the FIR. However, despite such pressure, the honest officer registered the FIR but was transfered within days from his post,” Kumarswamy said.

The JD(S) Legislature Party leader alleged that the government is silently backing single digit lottery by neither stating that it is completely banned nor allowing it to function legally.

On Anna Bhagya

On Anna Bhagya scheme, Kumarswamy said it is increasingly being seen that people are selling the rice, rather than consuming it. “If such actions continue, with people selling it in the black market, then the government will have to set up a separate department for the purpose of controlling the sale through Anna Bhagya,” he added.

He also stated that on the issues of illegal mining, the chief minister’s office has directed the departments not to give any information to him. “Despite my best efforts, I have been denied access to any information pertaining to any issue, on the directions of the CM’s office,” he said.
