CCEA to take up Jet-Etihad deal soon

Last Updated 01 October 2013, 20:38 IST

The multi-million dollar Jet-Etihad deal is likely to be taken up by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs soon for a final clearance as the SEBI on Tuesday cleared the revised share commercial cooperation agreement between the two parties.

Once the CCEA clears the deal, the proposed airline will have to seek Air Operation Permit (AOP) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for commencing operations. Earlier this month, the government had given clearance for the Air Asia India, a joint venture of Air Asia Bhd, Tata Sons and Telstra. The Air Asia India has now started the process of obtaining AOP.
Officials said the Jet-Etihad issue would be taken up soon by the CCEA.
