JOIN USThe arrested are Damodara Panditha (58) and his son Sathish Belchada (25). Both were the residents of Emmepadpu near Majeshwar. The value of the idol is said to be Rs 10 lakh in the international market. However, police are yet to find out from where the idol was stolen.
The idol has three heads and six hands. Hand has conch, damaruga, vishnuchakra, trishul and kamandala. There is rudrakshamala on the neck. The right head resembles Lord Shiva’s head while the middle and right heads resemble Vishnu and Brahma respectively. It is said that the idol is 500 years old. 2 students drown
Two students drowned in Phalguni river at Venur on Sunday. The deceased are Mohammed Nawaz (12) and Abdul Rahim (13). Both were the residents of Hosangadi. The duo had been to take bath in the river when the incident occurred.
