A 21-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house in north-east Delhi’s Harsh Vihar on Monday afternoon. Her family members alleged that her husband electrocuted her.

Manisha lived with her husband Sunil Kumar at rented accommodation at Pratap Nagar block D in Harsh Vihar
.
The matter came to light after a neighbour informed Manisha’s brother she was brutally beaten up by her husband during morning.

When Manisha’s brother and their father Rustam reached there, they found the room locked from inside.

They broke open the door and found Manisha and Sunil lying unconscious on the bed. Both were immediately rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where Manisha was pronounced brought dead.

“Sunil was discharged after preliminary medical attention,” said a police officer.
The post-mortem would be conducted on Tuesday.

Manisha married Sunil Kumar around three years ago but did not have a child, due to which, there were some problems, said the officer.

A case has been registered with Harsh Vihar police station, and Sunil was detained for questioning.

“We are questioning Sunil to ascertain the exact sequence of events and if he killed his wife,” said the officer.

The family members alleged that she was electrocuted by her husband who also attempted suicide after killing her in the room where they were found unconscious.

Police said they found multiple injury marks on the woman’s body which suggested that she was physically assaulted before being given electric shock.

Rustam in his complaint against Sunil alleged that he had been torturing Manisha ever since their marriage in 2010. “We are also looking into the allegations,” added the officer.
