JOIN USFour persons died on the spot and 24 were injured when the tractor in which they were travelling turned turtle near Gunnalu on the Yelburga-Kushtagi stretch of National Highway-13 in the early hours of Tuesday.
The dead are Basappa, 32, Huchappa, 19, Mylarappa, 35, and Shivappa alias Sindhoorappa, 55. All of them hail from Cheelapura-Kyadigere village in Hungund taluk of Bagalkot district.
The accident occurred when one of the rear wheels broke and the engine got separated from the vehicle. The group was on its way to the Huligi temple in Koppal taluk.
Nagappa, the driver of the tractor, has been injured seriously. He has been admitted to the Bagalkot hospital for treatment. Twelve of those injured have been admitted to the Kushtagi hospital for treatment. A case has been registered at the Bevur police station.
