Curtains down on Ch'nagar Dasara

The Dasara festivities that was extended to Chamarajanagar district for the first time concluded on Saturday. This provided an opportunity for the residents of city to enjoy a much-needed entertainment through a variety of cultural programmes presented by popular artistes. 

Deputy Commissioner A M Kunjappa performed puja to the portrait of Goddess Chamundeshwari and launched the procession at 4.15 pm.

The Pinasi dance form of Soligas of B R Hills drew much appreciation from the audience. More than 10 troupes including Goravara kunitha, dollu kunitha, beesu kamsale, suggi kunitha, chitti mela, nagaari, pooja kunitha, veeragase, nadaswara, tamate mela took part in the procession.The procession, which began from the Bhuvaneshwari Circle, passed via KSRTC bus stand, Gundlupet circle and culminated in front of Chamarajeshwaraswamy temple.

Additional Deputy Commissioner D Bharathi, SP P Rajendraprasad, Kannada and Culture department assistant director S Manjappa and Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Somashekar Bisalwadi participated.
