A connect with the past

The computer science department of Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) recently held its first alumni meet ‘Reminisce 13’.

Organised by the students of DSI, the event saw all those who were a part of the institution since 1989. With more than 150 people, the amphitheatre was packed with faculty, students and the alumni. This being the first time, there was a lot in store for those who had assembled. The first-half of the day had a function where the formal launch of the alumni centre and the alumni newsletter was held. The main objective of the centre is to connect the alumni with the department and help the college create a network of passed-out students.

This was then followed by an entertaining afternoon, which had a range of events ranging from a fashion show, flash mob, dance performances and a variety of games for the alumni to bond over. Arnab, a student of DSI, said that the entire point of the event was to give an opportunity to the alumni to bond with one another and also to share their experiences and guide and help their successors while they evaluated the growth of their alma mater since their graduation.

Avinash, an alumnus, expressed his happiness on being present for the first alumni meet. He said, “I feel there is a tremendous talent in the industry and it’s very important to start working towards your goals from now on to reap the benefits of it later when you pass out.” Shariq, a student, who was part of the organising team, said that it was great fun to bond with his seniors who had passed out. “It was fun to listen to all of their experiences and how the college was when they were studying here,” he added.

The afternoon also saw many games like passing the parcel and some of the passed out students even imitated their teachers in all good humour.
