Reclaim encroached Kaval land: Jayachandra

Minister for Animal Husbandry T B Jayachandra has directed the Deputy Commissioner to file criminal case against those who have encroached land belonging to Amruth Mahal Kaval. Measures should be taken to reclaim the encroached land.

Speaking after inspecting Ajjampura Amruth Mahal Kaval, he took officials to task for lack of maintenance and poor quality of work at the Kaval. A three member expert committee will probe into the funds released by the government and its utilisation, in the last 15 years.

Based on the report submitted by the committee, action will be taken against erring officials.

Innocents have been suspended following the death of a calf. The public urged the minister to reinstate them. To which, the Minister responded positively. Amruth Mahal Kavalu Ulisi Horata Samithi General Secretary S Shivananda said “there is a need to constitute an Authority for the development of the kavals. ‘D’ group employees should be recruited to take care of the cattle. Veterinary clinic and sperm storage centre should be opened.” MLA G H Srinivas, MLA Gayatri Shanthe Gowda, DC Shekarappa were present.

Villagers and farmers have expressed their displeasure over Minister for Animal Husbandry T B Jayachandra for not visiting Lingadahalli Amruth Mahal Kaval. The minister has visited only Ajjampura Amruth Mahal Kaval and has failed to visit Lingadahalli Kaval, they said. “The officials have no information on death and birth of cattle in the kaval.

Fodder is being stolen and poor quality of food is supplied to the cattle,” said resident Srinivas. Even after the visit of the DC, MLA and Upa Lokayukta, nothing has changed in the Kaval, they added.
