Kannada actor and producer Raghavendra Rajkumar, 48, underwent an emergency procedure at the Columbia Asia Hospital in Yeshwantpur, after he collapsed in a gymnasium located close to his residence in Sadashivanagar on Wednesday morning.

He is fondly called Raghanna by the Kannada film fraternity. The actor is said to have fallen unconscious during his morning fitness session at the Affinity Fitness Centre, while working out on the treadmill. A doctor who lives nearby and is known to the family rushed Raghavendra to hospital.

Dr Medha Huilgol, consultant anaesthetist at the hospital, told reporters that Raghavendra was brought to the hospital at 9.15 am and was diagnosed for clot in the brain. He had to undergo a minimally invasive surgery to remove the clot from one of the blood vessels. Raghavendra is responding to treatment and is recuperating in the hospital and may have to stay there for a couple of days, Dr Medha said.

He underwent an angiogram test, but doctors did not find any heart problem. He had undergone an angioplasty procedure 21 years ago at a City hospital.

Raghavendra’s brother Shivarajkumar was present in the hospital, along with other family members.

He is the second son of Kannada matinee idol, the late Dr Rajkumar. He has acted in many Kannada movies. Raghavendra has also done playback singing. Although Raghavendra is not acting in movies presently, he is actively involved in movie production. He has produced films like ‘Jackie,’ ‘Anna Bond’ and ‘Yaare Koogadali,’ starring his brother Puneeth Rajkumar.
