A break from monotony

Bowling Competition

The ‘PVR BluO Corporate Bowling Tournament’, held at the Orion Mall recently, offered complete entertainment to corporates and their family members.

With good music, delicious food and family members to cheer loudly, participants had a great weekend.

Excitement and anticipation filled the air as the teams battled it out for a trip to Europe. Out of the overall 50 teams that took part in the tournament, 20 made it to the final round.

As many as 20 teams, each consisting of four members from 18 corporate houses, competed for the grand trip.

Peeush of PVR BluO said, “The bowling tournament has been going on in Gurgaon for the last five years. This year, we decided to hold it in Bangalore too. It’s just the first year and already, 50 teams have taken part in the tournament that happened over five weeks.

We couldn’t have asked for a better response.”

Though the tournament was held for amateur players, the participants, who had been practising for the last couple of weeks, decided to play like professionals. Srikanth, an employee of International Travel House, said, “I have practised for the last three weeks.

This is the first time that I am playing for some tournament. My friends and family members are here to cheer for me. I am all eager to win the tickets.”

It was more than just bowling for the people gathered at BluO. To keep the participants and their family members grooving, DJ Risabh Joshi of ‘Lost Stories’ fame played some trance music.

The DJ was all set to make the people hit the dance floor. He said, “I am looking forward for a great show. I have geared up some high-energy tracks and I am sure the music will pull the people on to the dance floor.”

Amid so many teams, there were not many women playing. However, Namitha, an employee of DNA Networks, was excited to be the only woman. While all the participants were focussing on getting their strike right, for Namitha, it was all about having fun. She said, “This is probably the second time that I have come for bowling.

I have come as a replacement since one of my colleagues could not make it at the last moment. I am learning how to play while taking part in the game.” The star-studded attraction of the tournament was the award-presentation ceremony.

Bollywood fashion designer Manish Malhotra presented the trophy and tickets to the winning team from Solutions firm, who managed to score 1135 by the end of the two-round game. The runner-up teams were from E&Y Mobster and Technocare firms.
