CM pledges support to policemen's welfare

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said the State government was fully committed towards welfare of policemen and their families.

Addressing the gathering at the Police Commemoration Day at Martyrs’ Garden, CAR Headquarters, Mysore Road, he said: “I consider this day as a holy one as many policemen lost their lives while discharging duties. We should remember their sacrifices and pay homages. The  government is committed to extend education, housing and health facilities to the policemen and their families.”

He said as many as 579 policemen lost their lives las year while discharging duties including 19 policemen in the State. The government would extend necessary support to their family members, he added.

The policemen who lost lives while discharging duties are B S Vijay Kumar (PSI), Kodandarama, Sudhakar Reddy, Hussein Peer, S Gopalaswamy, Chandrashekhar Tippana Manegar, K M Renuka Prasanna, S R Sutrave, all head constables and Hulikanth Rao, Mahadevaiah, G M Giriyanna, R K Bhajanthri, B R Kamble, T M Shivarajappa, K S Satish, Nanjunda Shetty, Bhaskar Kulal, D P Ashok and Mahadevaswamy, all constables.
