Lokayukta cops trap special tahsildar

A special tahsildar from Bangalore south taluk was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police officials while he was allegedly accepting a bribe on October 24.

According to Lokayukta police, complainant Revanna of Tavarekere hobli had purchased a land in 2011. He approached special tahsildar Shivappa H Lamani to get the khata transferred into his name.

The official demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000. He had received Rs 25,000 through a employee in his office but the work had not progressed despite Revanna visiting the office several times. After few days, the tahsildar started demanding a bribe of Rs 75,000 for transferring the khata.

On October 23, Revanna approached the Bangalore City Lokayukta police and lodged a complaint. A criminal case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
On October 24, the officials laid a trap and arrested Shivappa and an agent Shylesh while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 at his office.
