The State government has declared the list of general holidays for the calendar year 2014.

Apart from the 22 days of general holidays, the government has also declared October 18 as local holiday for Kodagu district only on the occasion of Tula Sankramana.

Three general holidays, namely Republic day (January 26), Mahaveer Jayanti (April 13) and Bakrid (October 5) fall on Sundays. The government has notified that a separate list of holidays will be published by the Department of Public Instructions for the Education Department.

The government has said: “If any of the Muslim holidays notified above does not fall on the date notified, Muslims in government service may be granted holiday on the date of observance in view of the holidays already notified.”

The government has also said State government employees, in addition to the general holidays, may utilise any of the restricted holidays not exceeding two days during the year 2014 with prior permission from the authority who is authorised to sanction casual leave.
