Five persons, including a child and two women, were killed and six others sustained grievous injuries after a multiutility vehicle (MUV), in which they were travelling, collided head-on with an NWKRTC bus near Arer bridge on Hubli-Gadag road, on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Zarina Gadagwale (45), Sharpoon Addewale (40), Aslam Karjagi (23), Toufiq Maniyar (10) and the car driver Mohammad Ali Ontahalli.
Wedding reception
The victims were returning to their native Koppal from Goa after attending the wedding reception of the daughter of Zarina Gadagwale.
Superintendent of Police B S Lokesh Kumar, along with other senior police officials, rushed to the accident spot and oversaw the relief operations. A case has been registered.
