His "sense of humour", however, didn't amuse the police who nabbed him promptly.

Basavaraj (25) was drunk when he made a call to the police control room around 5:45 pm on Friday, ‘alerting’ them that a bomb was planted at the BIAL which would explode within an hour.

This got the police in a tizzy, who searched the airport extensively for five hours before declaring the call a hoax. The Kodigehalli police arrested the accused last night after tracing his cellphone number.  "Basavaraj was in an inebriated state when we arrested him. He could not even utter few words properly," Assistant Commissioner of Police Basavaraj Malagathi told Deccan Herald. Kodigehall police have registered a case.
