With only two days left for Champa Shashti, the day on which controversial ‘Made Made Snana’ ritual is practised at Kukke Subramanya temple, Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagruthi Vedike State President K S Shivaramu has said that the forum along with the like-minded organisations and seers heading different mutts will stage a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s office on December 7.

Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday, he demanded that the evil practises like Made Snana and Pankthi Bedha should be banned. When Siddharamaiah was the opposition party leader during the tenure of BJP government, he along with his party leaders had opposed the practise and severly criticised the BJP for not banning Made Snana. Now the Congress government is in power and Siddharamaiah is the chief minister, therefore his government should take steps to ban the practise, Shivaramu urged.

Further, he said the government should introduce anti-superstition bill at the earliest, as the bill also proposes to ban the practises like Made Snana and Pankthi Bedha.

Seers including Jnana Prakash from Urilinga Peddi Mahasamsthana, Basavaraja Devru from Revanasiddheshawara Mahamutt, Siddharamanandapuri seer from Muduthopure mutt, Thipperudrappa, activists from Samatha Sainik Dal, Dalit Snagharsh Smaiti, DYFI will participate in the protest.

Shivaramu also took an exception at the statement made by Kodi Mutt seer who had recently forecasted that the State government headed by Siddharamaih will collapse within 10 months. His forecast is no less than an example for superstition. He has made the statement owing to a few influential people who are behind him.

It could be recalled that the High Court had last year issued an order permitting a modified version of Made Snana and the order was stayed by the Supreme Court. With the stay by the apex court, the ritual is likely to take place on December 7.
