Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday told the Legislative Council that the BBMP has not employed a single teacher to its primary and high schools since 1999 and, the Palike and the government will therefore amend the recruitment norms to employ teachers to these institutions .

In a written reply to a question by Ramachandra Gowda (BJP), Siddaramaiah said permanent teachers working in the BBMP’s primary and secondary schools was less than 20 per cent of the total teacher strength. He said that of the 146 primary school teachers, only 47 were permanent ones. In high schools, out of 343 teachers only 88 teachers were permanent.

In a written reply to M R Doreswamy (BJP), Siddaramaiah said that there was no coordination between civic agencies in Bangalore in taking up infrastructure projects. He said that a committee has been formed with officials from the BWSSB and the Bescom to resolve inter-departmental issues and end inconvenience to the common man.
