JOIN US In a shocking incident, a man had to pay with his life for daring to protest against the alleged sexual harassment of his daughter in the Moradabad town of Uttar Pradesh.
A resident of Jahidnagar, Idris, who was thrashed by the alleged culprit and his friends, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Meerut. He succumbed to his injuries on Friday night, police sources said.
A youth identified as Mehraj, also a resident of the town, tried to sexually harass the daughter of the deceased a few days ago while she was on her way to her school
Idris, after being informed about the incident by his daughter, warned Mehraj and threatened to lodge a complaint with the police if he tried to molest his daughter again.
Reports said that an angry Mehraj, accompanied his three friends, hit Idris with sticks and lathis while he was at his dhaba.
A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched to nab the culprits. Earlier too, girls and their family members had been attacked for resisting sexual assault bids in different parts of the state.
A few days back a 16-year-old girl was set ablaze in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district after she resisted a rape bid by a youth who lived in her neighbourhood. In the same district, a minor rape victim’s tongue was chopped off, allegedly by the brother of the culprit, to prevent her from getting a statement recorded. In the past three months, as many as nine incidents of acid attacks on girls have been reported.
