<p>A newly married man allegedly killed his wife’s paramour at Channakeshavanagar in the Parappana Agrahara police station limits on Tuesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The deceased has been identified as Sateesh, 26, a mechanic and a resident of Channakeshavanagar. He allegedly had an affair with Rukminiamma, 20, of Maralawadi village near Kanakapura. She and her husband Shamaraj, 29, were injured in the scuffle, the police said.<br /><br />Rukminamma had married Shamaraj, who is employed as a supervisor at a garment factory. The couple are residents of Channakeshavanagar. According to police, Rukminiamma was in love with Sateesh. <br /><br />Sateesh’s family objected to the marriage, as they were from different castes and Sateesh had married a woman chosen by his family, four months ago. “However, Sateesh continued his affair with Rukminiamma, even after her wedding,” police said.<br /><br />According to police, Rukminiamma pretended to be unwell on Tuesday morning and asked her husband to get her food from a nearby restaurant. When Shamaraj returned home, he sensed that someone else was in the one-room tenement and found Sateesh hiding under the cot. <br /><br />The two men reportedly fought and Shamaraj allegedly hit Sateesh on the head with an iron rod, causing his death. Shamaraj also suffered a head injury and Rukminiamma suffered a knife injury in the throat.<br /><br />B S Shantha Kumar, ACP, Madiwala sub-division, told Deccan Herald that Shamaraj had slit his wife’s throat in an attempt to kill her. “A murder case has been booked against him,” Kumar said. <br /><br />Shamaraj and Rukminiamma have been admitted to a private hospital and are out of danger.<br /><br />According to Kumar, investigators are yet to record the couple’s statements.<br /></p>
